RARE ANTIQUE IF FOUND PLEASE DROP IN ANY LETTER BOX KEY FOB KEY TAG KEYCHAIN ID
These date back to about late the 1890's to early 1900's. They were used as key tags, key fobs, identification tags, luggage / trunk tags. Their main purpose was to return lost keys and other important items back to their rightful owners. Back in the day, locksmiths would engrave these fobs with their customer's addresses. For a fee, the U.S. Post Office would return lost keys with these types of fobs on the keychain, to their owners. The post office continues this service today. If you're reading this ad you already know how rare these fobs are. The fact they are blank and not engraved make them even rarer.
Made out of nickel-silver also called German silver. Nickel silver is stronger and more expensive than brass. And, it doesn't tarnish as much as brass. Back in the day manufacturers chose nickel-silver over brass for higher quality items.
These look gorgeous and resemble sterling silver.
